Report on the situation in New Mexico in 1689, 1690 Sep 20 / by Charles II, King of Spain.

The Spanish Crown notifies Bishop Juan de Santiago de Leon Parabito of Guadalajara of its decision to send Franciscan missionaries from Coahuila to establish six or more new missions in Texas. The Crown's letter was sent in response to a letter from the Bishop which had discussed affairs in New Mexico and reported that a number of Texas Indians had requested that the Governor of Coahuila, Alonso de Leon, send missionaries to instruct and baptize them.
